ISLAMABAD: A high-level business delegation representing American Ethane Company and General Electric Pakistan visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) with an interest in setting up a 6,000MW gas power plant in Pakistan.

The delegation was led by Special Envoy to the Prime Minister Ambassador Javed Malik.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik said that the government was giving priority to enhancing power production by utilising all available options. “The purpose of bringing US business delegations to ICCI was to provide them an opportunity of direct interaction with Pakistani counterparts and explore possibilities of business matchmakings.”

The delegation members said that Ethane was a smart, cost-effective and environment friendly fuel as it burnt with up to 80 per cent fewer emissions as compared to oil and coal and was suitable especially for areas not served by natural gas lines.

“Presence of many high profile international oil and gas companies in Pakistan shows the resilience of this sector,” said ICCI President Muzzamil Hussain Sabri in his address, adding that the oil and gas sector in Pakistan was still unexplored.

Now even american investors are showing interest in Pakistan. When Americans start to invest, then that means the economy is starting to look good. Americans are not so political like the Chinese.
Most Pakistanis don't realize that USA business investment in Pakistan has always dwarfed your so called best friend China. Same goes for trade - charity and military hardware.

Americans are not so political like the Chinese. They mean business and nothing else, so this is a very good sign that they see pakistan as investment worthy. Things really are starting to look very good for our country!
