A kidney centre was opened at Faisalabad divisional headquarters hospital on Monday. The 100-bed facility has 25 dialysis machines. The centre was inaugurated by former law minister Rana Sanauallah.  Addressing the ceremony, Sanaullah said Rs30 million had been spent on purchase of equipment for the centre. 


He said Rs8 million would soon be released for completion of the remaining work. He said centre would be equipped with lithotripsy machines. He said Rs50 million had been budgeted for purchase of laser technology for the centre.  DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said the district government had faced many difficulties in making the centre operational.  He said the centre would be turned into a kidney institute. He said soon kidney transplant facility would become available at the centre.  Medical Superintendent Abdul Rauf said 10 dialysis machines had opened. He said others would be made functional in a few days.
