Hollywood actor George Clooney admits he is now under the thumb that wife Amal Alamuddin bans him from watching TV sports and is being bowled over by her “eccentric” fashion sense, reported Mirror.

Clooney told how he found his human rights lawyer wife “intimidating” at first, despite his own status as a Hollywood icon.

Speaking of their home life, the actor said, “We don’t watch a lot of reality TV, that’s not knocking it. Unfortunately, I forced her to watch a lot of sporting events like March Madness and the Masters.

“She makes me turn the TV off now and suggests we play music or something else but not watch sport.”

When asked what it was like when he first dated his brainy wife, the actor found it "always intimidating”.

But George said he quickly knew she was his "soulmate". He explained, “I think it was about three days in and I knew she was the one.

“I knew when I met her that she was super-extraordinary. I wondered if I would ever get a chance to date her. We were friends for a while and luckily she said, ‘yes’.”

Amal, 37, has represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and is an adviser on Syria to UN Special Envoy Kofi Annan.

Regarding this, Clooney openly said, “I am always very proud of her when I see her speaking at the International Court of Appeals in Strasbourg, you know, with her robe on.

“It is very impressive. It is a nice-looking robe. It’s amazing, because since the day I met her, she’s always had this insanely, it’s-eccentric-but-it’s-fun, sense of fashion.”

It is perhaps no surprise that Amal wears the trousers because they were part of her outfit when she got married to Clooney at Venice City Hall last year.

George, 54, said his wife has “great taste” and the couple now have “another bedroom” in their Los Angeles home just for her clothes.

Describing on US TV why he fell for Amal, George gushed, “She’s an amazing human being and she's caring."

“She also happens to be one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. And she’s got a great sense of humour," added the actor.

The couple looked stunning at the the premiere of Clooney's new film Tomorrowland, in Orlando, Florida.
