Access: Two shot dead over water dispute

Two farmers were shot dead and three others were injured over an irrigation water dispute near Tandlianwala Saddar police station on Sunday.


Police spokesperson Muhammad Ramazan told to The Express Tribune that Muhammad Bashir, a resident of Chak 451-GB, had an argument over access to irrigation water with Haider Ali on Saturday evening.

He said on Sunday morning, Ali and his eight accomplices shot Bashir and his friend. He said Bashir and Muhammad Babar had died on the spot.

The spokesperson said Muhammad Nadeem, Mudassar Ali and Muzammal Hussain were taken to a rural health centre and later taken to Faisalabad in a critical condition.

On being informed, a police team headed by the Tandlianwala Saddar SHO reached the site and took the bodies into custody. They were taken to Tandlianwala tehsil headquarters hospital for post mortem examination.

The SHO said a case had been registered and a team had been formed to arrest the suspects.
