DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Thursday the district administration should gear up for a comprehensive anti-dengue operation to eliminate dengue mosquito breeding. 


He was presiding over a meeting along with MPA Ejaz Ahmed at his office. MPA Jafar Ali Hocha was also present.

The DCO assigned duties to the  Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA),   the district administration, the TMAs, the PHA and Environment Protection Department officials to check drains, graveyards, junkyards, tyre shops and other potential sites for dengue breeding.

The DCO said if dengue larvae were found, the relevant union council secretary of the area would be suspended.

Ahmad said the provincial government had launched a number of programmes to prevent dengue fever outbreak.

He said the anti-dengue drive would be continuously monitored and ngeligene in this regard would not be tolerated.

He urged the DCO to ensure cleanliness around the city.

The meeting was told that there were 1,337 graveyards, 1,169 junkyards, 2,961 tyre shops, 3,126 water bodies, 263 drains in the district.
