Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly donated £5 million to Save the Children to help relief efforts in Nepal following the devastating earthquake last month, according to a French magazine.
According to sports magazine So Foot the Real Madrid player handed over the money to help after the disaster, which struck the Himalayan region on April 25, killing more than 8,000 people.
Nearly 2 million children have been affected, according to Save the Children Nepal, which has been operating in the country since 1976.
Save the children’s UK office said they are looking into the matters with their colleagues abroad but offered no official confirmation that a donation has been made by the footballer.
Last month, Ronaldo posted a message to his 100 million Facebook followers to donate to the charity.
According to Forbes, Ronaldo, worth an estimated $250 million, has actively engaged in charitable projects throughout his career.
