KARACHI:

Former speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza has appealed to international organisations, federal government and Senate chairman to take notice of the cases lodged against her husband Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.

Fehmida, who reached Karachi late Friday evening along with her husband and dozens of supporters from Badin, said that she suspects that Sindh government has planned a conspiracy against her husband and supporters. “Stop backdoor conspiracies,” she said referring to the PPP-led Sindh government.

“They [PPP leadership] have also tried to involve me in this situation,” she alleged. “Don’t make me a sandwich.”The stalwart PPP leader said that the party leadership has not directly asked her to resign, saying the doors in politics never close.

“I don’t know if Dr Zulfiqar is being contacted for reconciliation,” she said, avoiding questions about the party leadership approaching them for talks.
