BHAKKAR: As many as 29 camels died between Thursday and Friday, Livestock Department officials said.
A spokesman said farmers in desert areas of Ratri, Fazal, Gadai and Bardanga had reported that their camels had died overnight.
He said Bhakkar DCO Zaman Wattoo had sent samples of the dead camels to Lahore for examination.
He said a camp had been set up by the district government and the Livestock Department for the affected areas. The DCO said he had received reports of a disease in Khushab, Mianwali, Layyah and Lakki Marwat but these were unconfirmed.
