KARACHI:

At least two passersby were wounded in a cracker bomb attack targeting a textile mill over  their refusal to pay extortion money on the outskirts of the city on Friday evening.

The police said that at least two armed men riding a motorcycle threw a locally made cracker bomb at a textile mill located at Khoi Goth within the limits of Shah Latif police station. As a result of the explosion, two pedestrians were injured and were taken to a nearby private hospital from where they were released after treatment.

A large contingent of law enforcement officials reached the site following the incident and collected evidence.

Shah Latif SHO Arshad Awan said that the bomb was not able to reach the mill, instead it hit its boundary wall, causing partial damage to the factory.

Awan said that the incident apparently occurred over their refusal to pay extortion money. Though the assailants managed to escape, a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
