A district and sessions court remanded on Thursday two workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to police custody in newly registered cases of possessing illicit weapons.
Naeem alias Guddu and Habibur Rehman were already under physical remand in an old murder case of a police official, Zeeshan Akram, when the investigators brought them before the court in new cases.
Unlike their party comrades, these two suspects were not taken to the anti-terrorism courts this time.
The police submitted a simple initial charge sheet against them contending that two unlicensed 9mm pistols were seized from a slum area in Korangi Industrial Area on the suspects' lead.
District East's judicial magistrate-VI sent the suspects on physical remand till May 13, directing the investigation officer to submit the challan at the next hearing.
