Salman Khan yet to receive regular bail

Salman's lawyers are set to file petition in high court which will decide whether he will be granted regular bail

A day after Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in prison in a long running hit-and-run case, Mumbai court is yet to decide whether he will be granted regular bail, Express News reported Thursday.

As the verdict was passed on May 6, Khan was sentenced to five years in prison. He was also granted a two-day entering bail.

Salman's lawyers are set to file a special petition in the high court which will decide on Friday whether the actor will be granted a regular bail as opposed to the 'entering bail' he was granted yesterday.

With eight charges against Khan, including culpable homicide and a non-bailable offence, the court deemed him guilty and has sentenced him to five years in prison.

Accused of losing control of his SUV following a night of drinking rum and cocktails, Khan in 2002 drove over homeless people and fled the scene.

It was later revealed that his misconduct behind the wheel, led to the death of one of the homeless people.
