KARACHI:

The family of a detained Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker has requested the Sindh High Court to order an inquiry into his confession about his alleged association with Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Najma Tahir, the wife of detainee Rehan Tahir, filed a petition against the Sindh home secretary, Sindh IG, former Malir SSP Rao Anwar and others.

She contended that they had arrested her husband near Mukka Chowk in Azizabad on February 24. Later, during a press conference on April 30, SSP Anwar had claimed that Rehan was associated with RAW, which had trained him to carry out criminal activities in the metropolis.

Najma alleged that her husband was tortured in custody and forced to make a confession during Anwar's press conference. She requested the court to order a medical examination to prove he was tortured and sought an inquiry into Rehan's statement.
