Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor's personal life always makes headlines; the media cannot get enough of him and his fans are obsessed with him. The young Kapoor is tired of the media frenzy and has urged fans not to make 'character assessments' about him based on what they read about him.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ranbir confessed his disapproval of the media blowing his life out of proportion. He said that although he cannot control what is said about him, people must not believe everything that the media claims.

"Where personal life is concerned, I believe I can’t contradict everything that’s out there. If I do it once I will have to do it every time. Once I stop doing that people will think that perhaps those rumours are true," said the actor.

He stressed that he is just an 'actor' and his life should not be taken seriously. "It’s too bad that you are an actor; people are interested in your lives. So there will be stories.," Ranbir added.

He compared his life to a reality show and said, "There will be a reality show type of thing around you and your girlfriend or what my mother thinks of my girlfriend; what my father thinks I am feeding my girlfriend." But he is not complaining. He feels that it is part and parcel of being an actor.

"I can only hope that when my film Bombay Velvet comes out, the work overrides these speculations and people don’t make big judgments about my character because of what they read about my personal life. That’s not really who I am," he added.

Ranbir doesn't mind the usual gossip that makes the news, but urges readers and fans to take it as pure entertainment and nothing more. "So what you read about me, take it with a pinch of salt and use it as entertainment but don’t make character assessments from what you read about me," said the actor.

Ranbir and Anushka Sharma are currently promoting their upcoming film Bombay Velvet.
