Fans dress up as Michael Jackson, moonwalk in theatres amid film release
From 'Smooth Criminal' to 'Thriller', audiences recreate King of Pop's iconic looks, dance moves

The Michael Jackson biopic Michael (2026) was released in theatres this week, sparking excitement among fans who have been dressing up in iconic outfits from the King of Pop’s performances and music videos.
Jackson’s fashion was just as iconic as his music. Known for his military-style jackets, sparkling gloves, and tailored trousers, the pop icon's bold, high-fashion looks became a defining part of his identity. Rolling Stone once referred to him as “The King of Style.”
Celebrities, influencers, and fans shared photos of their looks online, drawing inspiration from Smooth Criminal, Beat It, Thriller, and Billie Jean, as well as memorable ensembles like Jackson's Grammys appearance and signature moonwalk outfit.

Audiences have been eager to see Jackson’s life brought to the big screen once again, following This Is It (2009), the last major film centered on the star, which was distributed by Columbia Pictures. The new biopic stars Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, in the lead role, adding a personal family connection to the film.
