Arts Council: Elections to be held on 26th

A final list of contestants will be displayed on Dec 13.

KARACHI:
The Arts Council of Pakistan’s elections 2010-11 will be held on Dec 26.

Two contesting panels filed their nomination papers on Thursday at 5 pm. Friday is the deadline for the scrutiny of the papers and the contestants can withdraw their nominations till Dec 11.

A final list of contestants would be displayed on Dec 13. Council director Feroze Ahmed received nomination papers from both panels.

Shah Panel


The ruling Ahmed Shah panel includes nominees such as Ahmed Shah for president, Prof Ejaz Ahmed Farooqui for general secretary, Farhad Zaidi for vice president, Muhammad Ameen Yousuf for joint secretary, Shahnaz Siddiqui for treasurer, while for the governing body Prof. Sahar Ansari, Mehmood Ahmed Khan, Iqbal Lateef, Dr Huma Meer, Dr Rehana Shah, Suhail Ahmed, Gulab Chandio, Saadat Hussain Jaffer, Abdul Majeed Abdani, Samina Kamal, Dr Qaisar Sajjad, Idrees Ghazi, Nafees Ahmed, Naqqash Kazmi, Muhammad Azam advocate, Athar Waqar Azeem, Qaisar Khan Nizamani and Syed Javed Hassan filed their nomination papers.

Hashmi Panel

The Hashmi Panel has nominees such as Rizwan Siddiqui for president and Najmuddin Sheikh for general secretary, Prof Manzar Ayyubi for vice president, Kazim Pasha for joint secretary, Awais Adeeb Ansari for treasurer and Saifur Rehman Girami, Muhammad Ayyub, Shahinapuri, Hyder Imam Rizvi, Saadia Imam, Ayaz Khan, Zafar Ramay and Umrao Bundu Khan have filed their nomination papers for members of the governing body.
