HARIPUR:
The police department has formally launched the Police Assistance Line (PAL) centre in Haripur.
Hazara DIG Akhtar Hayat Gandapur inaugurated the office at the district secretariat on Monday. The DIG said the centre would be open every day from 8am to midnight to help citizens get their police-related tasks done in the shortest possible time. At the PAL centre, he shared, people would be able to get their character certificate in one day by paying Rs10 for the form fee, added the DIG. “A printed format for the certificate has been provided to all police stations to expedite the process which might otherwise take a week.” Moreover, the centre will also provide information and legal advice on vehicles and driving licences. The service is a step toward building people’s confidence in the police department, added the DIG. To a question he said, “Police will ensure foolproof security during the local government elections, especially in areas where candidates have old family disputes.” The candidates may also be provided with security after they put in a request and get clearance from the police. A PAL centre was opened in Abbottabad in Jul, 2014.
