KARACHI: Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) chief Afaq Ahmed moved the court through his counsel, Khurram Maqsood, maintaining that he has been an under-trial prisoner in Central Prison, Karachi, for many years and was suffering from several ailments, including heart disease, but he was not getting proper medical treatment.

He wants to be treated at Aga Khan Hospital on his own expense. On Thursday, the bench of the Sindh High Court, after a brief hearing, ordered the prison authorities to submit a report on the ailments suffered by Ahmed and the medical facilities provided to him. It also issued notice of the application to the Government of Sindh.

‘Al Qaeda leader’

Another bench of the Sindh High Court, comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Salman Hamid, adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Mariam Bibi, the sister of alleged al Qaeda leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammad, against his extradition to Guantanamo Bay. The bench adjourned the hearing indefinitely, as neither the petitioner nor her counsel was present.
