Court grants final chance to PTI lawyers

In a significant development in the £190 million case, an accountability court has given former prime minster Imran Khan's lawyers a final opportunity to cross-examine two prosecution witnesses on July 30.

In a written order for the Islamabad Accountability Court-I proceedings of July 26, Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich stated that on that day, the case was called at 10:40 am, and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) witnesses were present in the courtroom inside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail. However, no one appeared on behalf of the PTI founder.

The case was adjourned until 11:00 am. When the case was called again at 11:15 am, Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi were brought in. Advocate Khalid Yousaf, a junior lawyer in Imran's legal team appeared and informed the court that senior lawyers were on their way.

According to the order, the court stated that the lawyers for Imran and Bushra are given a final opportunity to cross-examine the witnesses on on July 30. Prosecution witnesses Umair Ahmed and Mian Umar Nadeem are obliged to record their statements.
