SHO Malir Cantt denies reports of case against MQM chief
Media reports claim former SSP Malir Rao Anwar filed application seeking registration of a case against MQM chief
KARACHI:
SHO Malir Cantonment Irshad Gabol denied on Tuesday media reports that former SSP Malir Rao Anwar filed an application against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain.
“The news is false. Former SSP Malir Rao Anwar has not filed an application seeking registration of a case against MQM chief in Malir police station,” Gabol said.

Media reports stated Anwar had filed an application in Malir Cantt Police Station on Tuesday seeking registration of a case against the MQM chief for allegedly threatening him.

On May 2, Anwar escaped an attempt to assassination when militants mounted an attack on him.

Anwar, who survived the attack, was travelling in an armoured convoy through the Malir Link Road when the assailants on motorbikes and car attacked him
“I was on my way to visit the spot where DSP Fateh Sangri was assassinated when armed assailants attacked me by hurling a hand grenade,” said SSP Rao. He said that the attackers had thrown at least three hand grenades; however, two of them did not explode.
