Zulfiqar Mirza storms police station, manhandles officials in Badin

FIR registered against former Sindh home minister, 20 of his supporters for damaging public property

BADIN: Former Sindh home minister Zulfiqar Mirza on Sunday stormed a police station in Badin and manhandled security personnel for trying to arrest and registering an FIR against his aide.

Mirza reportedly stormed the Model police station along with his supporters, abused the officials and damaged furniture for filing a case against Nadeem Mughal.

The former provincial home minister also forcibly locked shops of local traders, Taj Mohammad Mallah and Imtiaz Ahmed Memon who filed the complaint against Mughal.

Mirza said that he will not leave his supporters alone in difficult times, and will not let them be targets to political victimisation, adding that the only fault of these people was that they supported the truth, and accepted the Bhuttos as their leaders but former president Asif Zardari has ruined the Pakistan Peoples Party.

In retaliation, local traders filed a case against Mirza and 20 of his supporters for attacking and threatening them, and damaging their property.

Later in the evening, another case was registered against the former home minister and 30 others for vandalising the police station. The complaint was filed by SHO Wali Muhammad Chang.

The entire city was shut as tension prevailed. Law enforcement agencies were deployed to handle any untoward situation.

Meanwhile in Karachi, PPP women leaders, including Shehla Raza and Sharmila Farooqui addressed a press conference against Mirza’s outrageous remarks on the PPP leadership, including Faryal Talpur.

Once a close aide of former president Zardari, Mirza in recent times has developed serious differences with the PPP leadership.

Zaheer | 9 years ago | Reply The action of Zulfiqar Mirza is highly condemnable but the way PPP women leaders hold press conference and the language they used is more shameful than that of Mirza. The PPP claimed that they are the real democrates but they do not know in democratic process everyone has the right to speak. If former Home Minister has used uncivilized language or alleged PPP's leadership than its the duty of PPP to reply in decent manner, keeping in mind once Mirza was a blue-eyed person of former president and what are the causes behind his lambasting speeches. The use of insulting behaviour and lodging FIRs against former minister would harm the image of party. So the senior leadership of PPP should resolve issues in respectable manners. Remember PPP is the party of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali who accept martyrdom for the sake of democracy and people of this country.

Irshad | 9 years ago | Reply I condmnd the govt of sindh, May be mirza is not correct at all. but no doubt Asif zardari is playing with the lives of poor, and grabing the lands of farmers and properties of innocent peoples all over the sindh, I had not heard name of zardari before 2010 in tando Allahyar distirct, neither i heard about lands of zardari nor about sugr mills. but now where ever we see, it is to be heard that, this is zardari farm, this zardari's sugr mill etc. meant to say zardari is curse for sindhi peoples. shame on you zardari! May Allah always watchover mirza sahib. Jeaye sindh, jeaye Mirza shame zardari shame and all the lady MPAs MNAs of PPP who are defending A blood sucker of sindhi nation!

This is what MQM wants to eliminate from Pakistan and this is why these corrupt, malicious people are against MQM. People in Karachi and Mohajir would never obey and tolerate these nefarious people. Arresting his aide shows pathetic behaviour, his reaction worse... Are these people to be taken seriously? Did they really run governments and indeed are still doing so, when all they are capable of is such mafia like muscle shows??
