In Court: Former MQM sector in-charge remanded
Shabbir Ahmed alias Farhan Mullah was arrested during the March 11 raid on the party’s headquarters
KARACHI:
An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended the remand of a former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) sector in-charge in a double murder case. Shabbir Ahmed alias Farhan Mullah, who was arrested during the March 11 raid on the party’s headquarters, was implicated in the six-year-old case following confessions he allegedly made during interrogation. The prosecution contended that he, along with accomplices, had gunned down head constable Tariq and his friend Zeeshan in the remits of Alfalah police station in December 2009. He was also identified by an eyewitness before a District East judicial magistrate. The IO submitted that further interrogation was needed to find his accomplices. The judge sent the suspect to police custody on physical remand till May 16.
