According to the police, Mir Ahmed Mazari was kidnapped from the limits of Guddu police station in Kashmore-Kandhkot district over two weeks ago. On Wednesday, Kashmore police raided a village within the jurisdiction of the Abadpur police in Rahim Yar Khan district on a tip-off. In an exchange of fire, a suspect, namely Ahmed Hussain Mazari, was killed. The Punjab police subsequently detained six Sindh police officials - constables Lakhmir Oad, Shaban Kalwar, Kehar Solangi, Abdul Razzaq Shah, Nasrullah Mazari and driver Shoukat Banglani - and registered an FIR against them.
On Friday, the Kashmore police again raided in a village in Rahim Yar Khan district, discovering Mir's body buried in the ground. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan, for post-mortem and was later handed over to the Kashmore police. The six detained police officials were also released.
A case has been registered against 11 suspects for Mir's murder at Abadpur police station. Those booked include the deceased Ahmed, Safdar, Ahmed Nawaz, Mian Khan, Asghar, Ghulam Abbas, Ajmal and Dahar Khan. The motive for Mir's kidnapping and murder is said to be a matrimonial dispute between two groups in the Mazari tribe.
