Sugar sector: Training project being undertaken
The programme has been developed in consultation with the manufacturers and sugar millers

The EU-funded Switch Asia’s high pressure cogeneration project in the sugar sector of Pakistan (HP Cogen Pak) is undertaking capacity building of boiler manufacturers in the design of biomass-based high pressure (HP) boilers for power generation. According to a press release, the training programme has been developed in consultation with the manufacturers and sugar millers, keeping in view their technical capacities and training needs. The programme includes comprehensive training sessions on the thermal and mechanical design of the boilers, its accessories, material selection, review of existing design procedures, fabrication methodologies and commissioning procedures. The main purpose of the training is to ensure that essential local capacity is developed in this area, resulting in reduced cost of technology and its indigenisation.
