SUKKUR:
Six policemen from Kashmore were detained by the Punjab police on Wednesday after the Sindh police killed a man during an encounter in Rahim Yar Khan.

The Sindh police team, led by Kashmore SHO Zaid Noonari and comprising Lakhmir Oad, Shaban Kalwar, Kehar Solangi, Abdul Razzaq Shah, Nasrullah Mazari and driver Shoukat Banglani, raided a village located within the jurisdiction of Acha Bungla police station near Rahim Yar Khan, the bordering town between Sindh and Punjab.

There was an exchange of fire between the police and the villagers and a man, Ahmed Hussain Mazari, was shot in the crossfire. The villagers managed to catch the six policemen after Mazari was shot and handed them over to the local police, which locked them up and registered an FIR against them.

According to SHO Noonari, the man who was shot was nominated in a kidnapping FIR along with two other Mazari men, Imran and Shahzad. They were accused of kidnapping Mir Ahmed from within the limits of Guddu police station in March this year and an FIR No. 33/2015 was registered against them.

"Since Ahmed's kidnapping, we have been constantly tracing the kidnappers' calls and it led us to the village," Noonari told The Express Tribune. The team raided the village and was returning after conducting a search operation when the suspects opened fire at the police. "We rushed Mazari to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries," he said.

Noonari denied, however, that the Kashmore police have been arrested by their counterparts in Punjab. It was a joint operation between the two teams and the policemen in question have been detained for investigation, he clarified.
