HYDERABAD: The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) will hold a rally in Karachi on May 1 to protest Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s chief Altaf Hussain’s demand for the division of Sindh. “Hussain’s renewed demand is part of a conspiracy to trigger civil war and violence in Pakistan to hinder the $47 billion investment by the Chinese,” said QAT president Ayaz Latif Palijo. A QAT rally in Karachi on the same issue, titled ‘Muhabbat-i-Sindh’, on May 22, 2012, ended in an armed attack for which Palijo holds the MQM responsible. The attack left 13 dead and at least 28 injured. “The global powers want to create an Israel-like state on the coastline from Gwadar to Keti Bunder and the MQM is instrumental to their plan,” he alleged. Palijo also called for the investigation of the charges leveled by the former home minister, Zulfiqar Mirza, on the Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairperson, Asif Zardari.
