At gunpoint: Rs3.5m looted from car showroom

Police have registered an FIR against unidentified men on the complaint of the owner of the showroom

RAWALPINDI:


Four armed men looted Rs3.5 million from an auto showroom on Tuesday morning in the jurisdiction of New Town Police Station.


Four men with automatic weapons barged into the showroom, Aftab Motors, located along a double road at around 1:30pm. They held the owner and staff hostage before managing to escape with the money.


After the incident, traders closed down the local market and held a protest against police failure to protect them.


The traders blocked the main IJP Road for half an hour and chanted slogans against the police.


Police have registered an FIR against unidentified men on the complaint of the owner of the showroom, Ahsanul Haq.


Meanwhile, police arrested a man and recovered arms and ammunition from his possession in the Cantonment area.


 The arms and ammunition recovered by the police included two repeaters, a magazine, six 30-bore pistols along with 4,000 bullets and a 9mm pistol with 500 bullets.


The police have arrested the driver identified as Rehman Shah, a resident of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
