One death row convict hanged in Punjab

Jail authorities on Tuesday hanged a murder convict in Vihari District Jail, Express News reported.
Munir Hussain Ali, accused of being a serial killer was handed death sentence for murdering his niece and nephew over a land dispute in 2000. Stern security measures were observed at the Vihari jail.

On April 22, fifteen convicted murderers were hanged, the largest number of executions in a day since an unofficial moratorium on the death penalty was lifted in December last year.
Over 100 death row convicts have been executed since December, media reports suggest.
