Graft case: Court summons Zardari on May 5

An accountability court on Monday summoned former president Asif Ali Zardari in connection with a corruption case on May 5, urging him to make a personal appearance.
The notice was issued by Judge Khalid Mehmood Ranjha after re-opening of a corruption case against the former president in which he allegedly failed to submit details of his assets.
Prosecutor General Raja Khurram appeared before the court while Farooq H Naek represented the former president. Naek pleaded that his client has not received the notice so far. He argued that they came to know about the notice through media reports.
The court re-issued the notice and adjourned the case till May 5, ordering the former president to appear before the court in person.
Talking to reporters outside the courtroom, Naek said Asif Zardari respects the judiciary and would appear before the court at the next hearing.
The government has recently reopened an old investigation into the assets of Asif Zardari.
