QUETTA:

Three people of the Hazara community were shot dead in a targeted attack at a bus stop in Quetta on Monday.

The victims were sitting beside a tree in Satellite Town when unidentified attackers on a motorcycle opened fire at them, SHO Qayyum told The Express Tribune. They were waiting to buy a ticket for a Makran-bound bus at the terminal when they were attacked.

Two of the victims died on the spot while the third was seriously injured. They were taken to the Civil Hospital Quetta, where the injured man was also pronounced dead on arrival, the police officer added. The deceased were identified as Mirza Hussain, Asadullah and Mohammad Ali.

Police suspect it was a targeted, sectarian attack on the Hazara community members.

The community has faced frequent attacks, resulting in a massive number of casualties in recent years.
