Not handy: Man sued for selling ‘defective’ phone
He said the device had later stopped working properly
LAHORE:
A consumer court on Monday issued a notice to the proprietor of a cell phone shop over a Rs100,000 suit filed against him. Muhammad Zaman told the court that he had purchased a cell phone for Rs10,000 from Muhammad Yaqoob, owner of Zaheer Mobiles, in Shahdara. He said Yaqoob had told him that he would be responsible for any fault in the handset. He said the device had later stopped working properly. He said when he took the phone to Yaqoob, he had refused to repair or replace it. “He refused to repair the phone and asked me to leave,” he said. The petitioner asked the court to direct the respondent to pay Rs100,000 in damages.
