Extra-curricular: PU win athletic championship
The PU won the men’s category with 314 points

The Punjab University (PU) secured first position in both men’s and women’s events of the HEC Inter-Universities Athletic Championship that concluded on Monday. The tournament is regarded as the largest event of its kind featuring 600 athletes from 48 universities. The PU won the men’s category with 314 points followed by the University of Central Punjab with 298 points and the Government College University, Faisalabad, with 69 points. PU’s Farhan Haider, with 52 points, was declared the best athlete in men’s category. In women’s category, Musarrat Shaheen from the Sargodha University was declared the best athlete with 60 points. The PU won in the category with 283 points. The Lahore College for Women University stood second with 161.5 points and the Sargodha University third with 146 points. Acting PU Sports Director Shamsa Hashmi said PU players had performed great in all categories. Cash prizes were distributed among the winners. The PU Department of Special Education will host a two-day annual Sports Gala for special students from Tuesday (today). The opening ceremony of the event will be held at 10am.
