Gunned down: Policeman killed, another injured

KARACHI: A policeman was shot dead and another wounded in a targeted attack near Ghani Chowrangi within the limits of SITE B Section police station late on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Adil Nawaz, 30, and the injured as Sadaqat Tanvir, 35. Police officials said that they were patrolling on their motorcycle when at least six men on three motorcycles opened fire at them, critically wounding them. They were rushed to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where Nawaz succumbed to his injuries. According to SHO Shahzad Ilyas, patrolling was increased in the area following frequent incidents of street crime. The victim’s funeral prayers were offered at the office of the West DIG on Sunday noon and his body was later sent to his hometown, Jhelum, for burial. A case has been registered against unidentified persons.
