In the wake of the security arrangements being employed for the rally, doctors and paramedical staff at the Kutiyana Memon Hospital in Kharadar protested the lack of access to the patients.
The authorities had blocked a portion of MA Jinnah Road, from Denso Hall up to Kharadar police station, and other thoroughfares leading to the venue for traffic. Meanwhile, around 10,000 policemen were deployed to manage the security.
The hospital’s manager for maintenance, Noshaba Ghaffar, told The Express Tribune that the healthcare facility and patients therein were bearing the brunt of the heightened security arrangements ahead of PPP’s rally in Lyari’s Kakri ground. “The entrance to the emergency ward has been made inaccessible since early morning while police personnel are not allowing ambulances with patients to pass through the barricades,” said Ghaffar.
