Impasse persists: No progress in talks with Baloch separatists, says CM
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has confirmed reports of an impasse in the process of negotiations between the government and Baloch separatists.
While talking to the media on Friday, he conceded that no major breakthrough was achieved in engaging the militants in a meaningful dialogue.
The chief minister said the policy of reconciliation is being reviewed and reassessed by the provincial government – before it can be presented to the federal government for approval.
He categorically said the government has a clear policy not to add miseries to the life of people on any count, adding that the federal and provincial authorities are ready to hold talks with the insurgents and they have not closed this option.
“The people should not take the issue of Balochistan and its militancy lightly,” Dr Baloch said. “The Balochistan issue is a serious political issue and it should be resolved politically or through peaceful means,” he added.
