HANGU:
Ten candidates have been elected unopposed to council seats by residents of Shamshadeen village in Hangu.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Anwar Gul and Shafique Khan, who are among these candidates, said the residents had decided to elect candidates through consensus and mutual understanding before they filed their nomination papers.
In addition, Syed Badshah, Dauran Shah, Riaz Khan and Omar Saif Khan have been elected as general councillors. Abdul Wasay has been elected as the youth councillor and Meenam Shah has been elected as kissan councillor. Two women have also been elected as councillors.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl has announced it will part ways in Hangu with the tripartite alliance of opposition parties in the K-P Assembly formed for LG polls in the province.
The party’s general secretary in Hangu, Rehmatullah Raz, said the decision was taken because promises made between alliance members had been repeatedly violated in the district.
