National table tennis squad leaves for China
Six players will represent Pakistan in World Championships.
KARACHI:
Pakistan’s six-member squad left for China on Friday to participate in the World Table Tennis Championships which will be held in Suzhou from April 26 to May 3.
The players — Asim Qureshi, Salim Abbas and Shujaat Ali Shabnam Bilal, Ayesha Ansari and Maleeha Khursheed — were selected on the basis of their national rankings and will be representing Pakistan in the men’s and women’s events.
Pakistan Table Tennis Federation’s (PTTF) vice-president finance Khwaja Hasan Wadood will accompany the side as head delegate while Sohail Mazhar will go as manager.
Meanwhile, PTTF chief SM Sibtain said the team received the No-Objection Certificate from the Pakistan Sports Board and funds have also been arranged for them. Sibtain will be leaving for China to attend official meetings from April 27 to May 1.
