A glimpse into the world of Pakistani powerhouses

During a shoot.

What sparked your interest in the fashion industry?

Fashion itself!

What is the most important thing to keep in mind before designing?

To know who you are designing for.

How has the Pakistani fashion industry changed over the past years?

The Pakistani fashion industry has changed dramatically over the past decade. Not only is there an influx of self-proclaimed designers, but they are actually selling too!

There used to be a fine line between commercial and acclaimed designers which has a blurred over the past few years.

You have already worked with an impressive roster of celebrities from the show business. Is there anyone that you would like to work with in the future?

I would love to work with Mansha Pasha next. She’s a natural; so beautiful and bright!

What do you have to say about the new designers?

Some show great promise with their design aptitude, others more so with business acumen. We’ll have to wait and see who fares better in the times ahead. Fortunately, the market is big enough for everyone to co-exist and grow.

Your designs have successfully been showcased in Singapore, London, India and Dubai. How does it feel to represent Pakistan in the global market?

I am always humbled by the experience.

How do you bring your inspiration into reality?

Through a lot of development and sometimes frustration, if unable to get it right.

What constitutes a good fashion show?

Savvy production and good collections, sans drama on and off the ramp.

One material for all season?

I personally love silk and organza.

Any advice for aspiring female designers?

The best advice one can give to anyone in this capricious industry is to keep it real.
