RAWALPINDI: A gang of imposters donning police uniforms on Wednesday deprived a money changer of Rs70 million from inside the Benazir Bhutto International Airport, said a police official. Sources said a money changer identified as Muhammad Saleem arrived at the airport from Karachi carrying cash and intended to exchange it for US dollars from currency changers in the twin cities. As Saleem exited the departure lounge, three robbers started beating him up. Later, the robbers, two of whom were in police uniform, bundled the money changer in a vehicle they had parked in the VIP parking lot and took him to an undisclosed location, sources said. The swindlers snatched Rs70 million from Saleem and abandoned him near Khana Pul. The victim reported the incident to the Airport Police Station. However, the police have not registered a case and consider the incident suspicious, sources said.
