KARACHI:
Fear gripped Lyari once again on Wednesday as a five-year-old girl was killed in a grenade attack near Lea Market.

“She was brought dead,” senior medico legal officer of Civil Hospital Dr Nisar Ali Shah said.

The girl was identified as Zainab, daughter of Raj Mohammad.

Further, he informed no other person was brought injured to the hospital.

“This is not the first such attack in Lyari,” Dr Nisar Ali Shah said.

The first grenade was hurled at Kakri Ground where the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has scheduled a gathering on April 26. An elderly woman present in the ground was injured.

While another was reported in Shah Baig Lane. Residents of the area complained, on Tuesday night of three explosions rocked Chakiwara area.

Firing has been ongoing in Lyari for days now, residents believe these attacks are to create a sense of fear so people don’t attend PPP’s rally.

“It is a clear message. The [anti-PPP] elements want to influence the public gathering,” a resident commented.
