Shaheen Air makes emergency landing at Islamabad airport
Engine of aircraft bound for Karachi caught fire soon after take off
A Karachi-bound Shaheen Air flight made an emergency landing at Benazir Bhutto International airport on Tuesday as one of its engines caught fire soon after take off.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson said Shaheen Air’s Boeing 737 flight bound for Karachi took off at 10:31am. However, soon after take off, the pilot of the aircraft reported a fire in engine No1 at 10:36am.
The pilot requested priority landing which was given immediately and the aircraft safely landed at 10:43am.
According to reports, the plane was switched off at the runway and toed to the parking bay for check-up. The 174 passengers on board were disembarked safely.
