Cop kills wife, friend in Baldia Town

Retired civilian employee of Pakistan Navy found dead.

KARACHI: A police officer killed his wife and her friend inside his home in Memon Goth while a retired civilian employee of the Pakistan Navy was found dead in Baldia Town.

Police sub-inspector Ashiq Ali, shot and killed his wife and her male friend at a residential apartment in Khaskheli Goth within the limits of Memon Goth police station. The deceased woman was identified as Shazia, 35, and her friend as Talat Hameed, 23.  Memon Goth police SHO Jan Muhammad said the officer has been arrested.

Separately, Abdul Khalique Abbasi, 40, who is a retired civilian employee of the Pakistan Navy, was found dead inside a shop in the Ittehad Town area of Baldia Town. SHO Imtiaz Jatt said that deceased used to run a shop to repair air-conditioner in the area. The family of the deceased approached the police after the victim did not return home the last two days, said SHO Jatt. The police launched an investigation and arrested one of the victim's employee, Sheraz, who revealed that he killed his boss after an exchange of hot words over a work-related dispute, said SHO Jatt. The police have registered an FIR against the accused.

Policemen killings' cases registered

Meanwhile, the cases of the killings of two policemen — Ghulam Rasool and Azhar Jafri — who were targeted late on Saturday night in separate acts were registered on Sunday. So far the police have failed to arrest the culprits behind the incidents. The cases have been registered against unidentified persons while further investigations are underway.

Rasool, a police head constable, was shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle in Surjani as he was sitting outside his residence. He was posted to the Police Headquarters West Zone. Jafri, a police sub-inspector, was shot dead in the Airport area. Police officials said that armed motorcyclists were behind the incident. The deceased was posted to the Malir City police station and was a resident of the Ghazi Town area of Malir.
