Masood Hamid, the marketing director at Pakistan Herald Publications Limited, was found murdered in his car in Defence Phase-VIII on Friday, the Dawn Media Group said in a statement.
Hamid was shot once and apparently died on the spot. The unidentified assailants left the murder weapon inside his car before fleeing.
SSP South Tariq Dharejo told Dawn that an investigation officer was being appointed immediately to investigate all aspects of the incident.
Hamid had been associated with Herald Publications for the past 28 years. “He was a natural leader, and in his capacity as the marketing director, he had built one of the finest marketing teams for Dawnand other publications of the group,” the statement read.
Hamid was also a former secretary general of the All Pakistan Newspaper Society and had been actively involved in promoting the cause of the newspaper industry.
He has left behind a widow and daughter and son, and a large number of colleagues and friends to mourn his death. His funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at Zuhr prayers.
