Energy crisis: ‘Poor policies weakened the economy’

Government’s inefficient energy policies had weakened the national economy

LAHORE:
Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said on Thursday government’s inefficient energy policies had weakened the national economy. He was speaking to a delegation of businessmen at his Lahore office. He said the government’s plan of shutting down businesses by 8pm would hurt businesses. He said entrepreneurs continued to suffer at the hands of corrupt politicians and their policies. “The nation is faced with serious economic challenges… outdated economic strategies are adding to the crisis,” Sarwar said. He said businesses were the backbone of a country’s economy. “The unstable political system and dictatorship have affected the nation’s integrity,” said Sarwar. The delegation, which included Mian Kashif, Sohail Rana and Nasir Javed Chaudhry, expressed concern over the government’s plan to shut down businesses by 8pm. They said such a policy would not be acceptable to the business community.
