No casualties: Blast targets security forces

PESHAWAR: A remote-controlled bomb, meant for a security force convoy, went off in Pishtakhara Friday morning. “The device exploded when there was no vehicle around hence no casualties,” a police officer told The Express Tribune.

The device, said to weigh five kilogrammes, was planted in the green belt on the middle of Ring Road to target the convoy that had crossed the area minutes before the explosion occurred.

According to the police, the device was meant to go off when the convoy was passing the area, but it did not explode on time due to the presence of radio jammers in the vehicles of the security forces.
