Investment: Seminar highlights opportunities in Gilgit-Baltistan
Many delegates from the United States and government officials were present at the seminar
Foreign investors have expressed willingness to invest in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) if the government sets up a consortium to pool resources.
“We are ready to provide support to bring investments if a consortium is setup,” said Pakistan Policy Institute USA Chairman Dr Gholam Mujtaba, while addressing a seminar in Gilgit.
Many delegates from the United States and government officials were present at the seminar, Investment Opportunities in G-B, organised by the Islamic Institute of Knowledge Management and Development, a local institution.
Caretaker Chief Minister Sher Jehan Mir said G-B has immense potential especially in energy, tourism and minerals sectors and the peaceful environment makes it an ideal place for investment.
“G-B has the capacity to generate more than enough electricity to provide for the entire country,” said Mir, assuring government support.
