Low-cost housing: Work in progress
.
ISLAMABAD:
The Ministry of Housing and Works is working on the plan of constructing low-cost housing units under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme on a fast track in the federal capital and all four provinces, said an official of the ministry. He said houses would be given to the low-income people all over the country on easy monthly instalments. “Time is very short and quick construction of 500,000 housing units, as per government’s commitment to the people, is the responsibility of the state,” he added. Minister of Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani also directed the officials concerned in the last meeting of Apna Ghar Limited to finish work on a fast track and within weeks. The official said sites for the project had been identified in the four provinces and directives had been given to acquire land.
