Under a plan to reduce forced load-shedding and tripping, the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has installed and replaced another 250 MVA power transformer at 220-kilovolt grid station in Lahore and started electricity supply to 132kv grid stations at the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco).
According to an NTDC spokesman, the electric power system at the 220kv grid station remained overloaded during summer due to increasing electricity demand.
It is pertinent to note that after the installation of this 250 MVA transformer, Bund Road will be the biggest grid station in Lahore, with a capacity of 1,000 MVA.
This grid station is connected with 500kv grid station in Sheikhupura, 220kv grid station in Kala Shah Kaku and 220kv grid station in New Kot Lakhpat Lahore.
Similarly, 10 circuits of 132kv grid stations in Saidpur, Qartaba, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sabzazar, Ravi and Orient Power Plant are also connected with this grid station.
The station is a main source of provision of electricity to domestic, industrial and agri-consumers of Lahore.
