Export-oriented: Sector-wise complaints heard by TDAP
The current scenario of trade in Pakistan is not favourable for the business community, though the government is taking steps to upscale trade growth through swift application of policies, said Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Chairman S M Munir.
During his meeting with different groups, Munir assured his support in facilitating the business community to improve exports. Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Vice President Malik Naseer Ahmad said the major concern was sales tax refunds.
Participants also raised the issue of Pak China Free Trade Agreement, stressing that the deal was heavily in favour of the latter. Representatives from the rice sector asked Munir to include Quality Review Committee related issues, while the surgical sector sought TDAP’s help in terms of documentation. Another participant belonging to the Sports Goods Association demanded the composite based sports goods to be identified as a separate sector.
