Personal enmity: Cop en route to polio drive shot dead

MARDAN: A policeman who was on his way to meet a polio team was gunned down by unidentified men on Babaini Road Tuesday morning. Par Hoti SHO Mohsin Fawad said Waheed, who was a resident of Babaini, was deputed at Choora police station in Mardan.

On Tuesday morning, Waheed was en route with his brother Ansar Shah for polio duty. According to the SHO, when Waheed reached Machine Kothy area, unidentified men opened fire at the brothers. Waheed died on the spot and Shah narrowly escaped.

The alleged killers managed to flee after committing the crime; the police lodged an FIR on the complaint of Shah and started investigation. Initial investigation revealed the deceased might have enemies in the area.
