Alleged police brutality: Relatives protest death of man in jail

The relatives said Bahar’s condition deteriorated while he was being brutalised by the police

Relatives and villagers blocked Warsak Road on Tuesday to protest the death of Syed Bahar. Bahar, a resident of Khyber Agency who was residing in Jamshedabad, Warsak Road, died in jail after he suffered what his relatives claimed was police brutality.

Bahar had reportedly been arrested with one kilogramme of hashish by Pir Bala police post and had been sent to jail on Monday night, where he died under mysterious circumstances.

His relatives said Bahar’s condition deteriorated while he was being brutalised by the police who then sent the man to jail where he died of his injuries.

The protesters claimed Mathra SHO, Pir Bala police post in charge and the Mathra moharrar were responsible for the death of the young man. Relatives demanded an FIR against the abovementioned officials and the road was blocked for all types of vehicular traffic till the filing of this report.
